The djembe is a chalice drum native to West Africa, in particular from Guinea Conakry, Mali, Burkina Faso, Senegal and Ivory Coast and in its diversifications throughout Africa and the rest of the world. The djembe is made up of a wooden chalice covered with goat skin or, more rarely, cow skin and a skin pulling system, made up of ropes and metal rings. It is played with full hands and has three main hits, the slap (high sound), the tone (medium sound) and the bass (low sound). It is an instrument that is rarely used in solo: it is rather played together with other drums and other instruments which, through rhythmic compositions, give life to a polyrhythm in which "a solo" intervenes for each drum.
The djembe is originally a social communication tool and as such has a very important role in accompanying ceremonial and ritual dances, such as baptisms, weddings, circumcision rites and funerals, practically the fundamental stages of life, but also during the "worldly" parties.
The body of the djembe is made of mahogany wood from sustainable plantations and is made entirely of natural products.Being manufactured by small artisans under the simplest conditions (not an industrial product), slight variations in color of the wood / leather cannot be avoided, as well as natural irregularities and slight differences in color.
