Odin is the main deity, personification of the sacred, at the same time the principle of the universe and its mode of implementation, of Germanic and Norse religion and mythology.
Being the most ancient of the gods, personification of the very source of the whole (the "totally Other"), Odin is the lord of wisdom, a connoisseur of the most ancient and profound essences. He was the first to know all the arts and later men learned them from him.
In Eddic mythology Odin is the main representative of the class of divinities called Asi, and is associated with wisdom (vision of the sacred), poetic inspiration, prophecy, war and victory.
