The dhyana Buddha statue is shown with both hands resting on the lap. The back of the right hand rests on the palm of the left hand. The thumbs often touch, forming the mystical triangle. This is the mudra of meditation, which symbolizes wisdom. The Buddha used this posture during his final meditation under the Bodhi tree, when he attained enlightenment.
