Ganesha, the elephant-headed God, is the Divinity of wisdom and acumen, and is also worshiped as the one who removes obstacles, defends good deeds and sows difficulties on the path of the wicked. In fact, when a person has to throw himself into a new business, start something important - building his home, starting a love, a long journey, hiring a job - he asks Ganesh for protection and help to overcome difficulties on one's path.
The richness of forms and attributes in its iconography reveal innumerable meanings (strength, wisdom, intellect, generosity, etc ..); however, his particular bond with women is often eclipsed, linked to the myth of his birth.

Born from the will of the goddess Parvati without the intervention of her consort Shiva, it symbolizes the private dimension of a woman, who cannot be violated against her will.
The goddess Parvati wanted a son but her partner, the god Shiva, did not want to know. Parvati then decided to generate it by herself: the child was born of a great laugh from the goddess or - according to another version of the myth - from the sweat of her skin.
Parvati's son (born human-looking) was very strong, so the goddess gave him an order: you will protect my private rooms and prevent anyone from entering while I bathe.
Unfortunately, however, Shiva arrived, unaware of everything, and tried to enter the rooms of his wife. The boy, obeying his mother, blocked his way and Shiva, furious, cut his head cleanly with his trident.
Outraged, the Goddess demanded that Shiva send all celestial beings (the ganas) to Earth to retrieve a head to reattach to her son's body to bring it back to life. The Ganas returned wearing an elephant head: therefore Parvati's son has looked like that since then and is called Ganesh or Ganapati which means "Lord of heavenly beings".

What psychological reading can be made of this myth? Ganesh is the protector of his mother's "private rooms": born from the free choice of a woman (Parvati generates her son alone) Ganesh symbolizes the defense of the intimacy of the Goddess (ie women) in the face of Shiva's intrusion ( that is men).
That is to say: a woman's private dimension cannot be violated against her will. Therefore, it is logical that the "protector" Ganesh is dear to the Hindus, who sometimes pray to him in truly surprising ways.
