Tingshas, ding-sha’s or cymbals are used as musical offerings in spiritual and meditation practices. Musical offerings are common in puja (prayer ritual) where a variety of instruments are used - bells, drums, cymbals and trumpets. Music offerings are in fact traditional in many Tibetan and Hindi Buddhist rituals. Today the cymbals are also used in the same way by the laity. They are used in fact in Feng Shui, in meditation, in purification and healing practices and in the alignment of the chakras.
How to use cymbals:
Hit the cymbals at the same time and a high, beautiful and clear note will come out, which will remain in the air and then create an extraordinary silence. The brilliant tone of the cymbals has an immediate resonance in the human heart. Their purpose is to raise awareness, to remind us who we are, and to make us recognize our priorities in this world, often turbulent and illusory. When suspended horizontally and struck simultaneously, a pleasant sound wave appears to oscillate between them, as they reverberate at a high frequency, thus creating an impressive symphony of haunting sounds.
